Description
This diverse Conservation Reserve Program grassland tract contains perfect habitat conditions for pheasant, quail, and whitetail deer. The adjacent dryland and irrigated crop fields provide a year-round food source, while the thick native grass, forbs, and plum thickets provide excellent cover for all types of wildlife. Most patches of CRP grass in central Kansas are still short from the combination of drought and haying that has occurred in the last 2 years; however, this property remains in excellent untouched condition. The multiple plum thickets scattered throughout provide undisturbed areas for deer to bed in within close range of wheat, corn, and soybean fields. The addition of some food plots and grassland management practices would create even more habitat for upland birds, turkeys, and deer. Numerous rooster pheasant crows and bobwhite whistles were heard while viewing the property and with recent rainfall events the habitat conditions for nesting and brood rearing are perfect. The property currently has 64.24 acres enrolled in CRP until 9/30/2025. Diversity of the grass, forb and shrub species are what set this apart from your average CRP patch. This field will be a great upland bird producer year in and year out! Contact for more information.
